Burning in December

burningWhile playing in his 1st band, a cover band, since hitting the shores of the U.S.A, they were auditioning for a guitarist and the name Kevin Schertell was put forward by a mutual friend.

Tim turned up at the rehearsal room on the agreed date and time to audition Kev, and as it turned out he was the only one to show up other than Kevin. Wires had been crossed along the way, the Drummer and Bass player had been mixed up about the audition arrangements and failed to show.

Undaunted, Tim suggested to carry on, despite the fact that the bass player held the keys to the rehearsal room. So…in true rock and roll fashion, Kev had his audition, unplugged, on the back of his pick up truck and as it turned out, Kev certainly knew his way around a fret board and Tim realized that Kev had a big talent and immediately came to the conclusion that this was the guy for the job.

At the time of the audition, Tim, who had previously been in a band playing only original material in his native country, had thoughts of bigger and better things than just being members in a cover band.

Due to the style and influences that he found he shared with Kev, it had felt to him as he listened to Kev play his guitar, even unplugged on the back of that truck, that someone had switched on a light in back of his mind. The thought of a side project, writing and recording original songs with Kev crept in and he knew it would certainly have to be explored at some point.

The cover band had found their guitarist, Tim had told Kev on the spot he was in if he wanted to be a part of the band. Kev agreed and they then threw themselves into heavy rehearsals and then onto the gig circuit.

It wasn’t for some time after the initial spark in Tim’s head of writing original material with Kev ignited and burst into flames, but it did burn and it burned bright and started the initial steps of creating a rock band that would ultimately become known as “Burning in December!

With a year of Tim and Kev writing and recording the songs that would make up the track list of the debut CD “No Way Out” and the remainder of the 4 piece band put into place, they were now ready to spread the music of Burning in December like wild fire.
